Questions

What do source, medium and campaign mean?
Source is who sent the visit, like linkedin or newsletter. Medium is the kind of channel, like social, email or cpc. Campaign is the push the link belongs to, like spring_launch. Together they tell you which post, email or ad brought someone in.
When should I use term, content and id?
Use utm_term for the paid search keyword you bid on. Use utm_content to tell apart two links in the same campaign, like the top and bottom links of one email. Use utm_id for a campaign id from your ad platform, so its reports line up with your analytics. Leave them empty when you don't need them.
How should I name my UTM values?
Pick one lowercase word per channel and keep using it: linkedin every time, not LinkedIn one week and linked_in the next. Use underscores instead of spaces in campaign names, like spring_launch. Write the list down so everyone who tags links uses the same words.
Should I add UTMs to links between my own pages?
No. Tag only links that live somewhere else: a post, an email, an ad. A UTM on a link inside your own site overwrites where the visit really came from, so someone who found you on Google ends up credited to your own menu.
Which UTM tags does Peeko read?
Peeko reads utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign, and shows every visit by them. The other tags can stay in the link for tools that use them.
